The festival takes place February 28th – March 3rd, 2019. Early Arrival (EA) is available on Wednesday, February 27th with the purchase of an additional EA pass. The music ends at sunrise on Monday, March 4th and guests must vacate the premises by 12pm on that Monday.
Envision is a 24 hour event that begins Wednesday, February 27th and goes through sunrise on Monday, March 4th. Beach access is available every day of the event from sunrise to sunset. The road to the beach will be closed overnight.
Please note Box Office hours below to ensure you arrive at a time that the festival can exchange your ticket for a wristband to allow you entry onto the premises. Envision is not required to allow you entry to the event if you arrive during a time in which the box office is closed, regardless of whether you have pre-purchased a ticket or not.
Please note that there are separate check-in stations for ticket holders and for staff/interns/artists. Be aware of the times the box office is open so you don’t have to wait at the gate in order to get your wristband!
On Tuesday and Wednesday pre-event, the gate will be closed overnight. During the event, the gates are open to allow for you to come and go as you please. Envision provides 24hr entry / exit to all attendees that have already received their wristbands.

We have a limited number of Wednesday (Feb. 27th) Early Arrival Passes available for purchase. Please purchase this in advance as they will sell out, if you plan to arrive on Wednesday. Note that the box office is only open until 10pm on that day (Feb. 27th).
Most vehicles will be parked in our main lot, which is directly adjacent to the venue. There is no satellite parking or shuttle system from the parking lot. This lot is for parking only – No camping! Anyone found camping in the car parking lot will be asked to move by our friendly security team. There is no car camping allowed at our event.
Your first stop upon arrival is the General Parking lot. All vehicles parking in the General Lot are subject to a $40 single use impact fee or $60 unlimited in-and-out event pass (Cash only!)
Camping is included in all multi-day event passes. There is quite a bit of shade at Rancho La Merced, however you may want to bring some type of shade structure to ensure your campsite is covered. It could also come in handy in case it rains. Please note that your tickets do not come with camping gear, you will need to rent a tent, sleeping pad and pillow from us (bring sheets) through one of our camping packages, or bring your own! This goes for ALL VOLUNTEERS as well. Additionally, there is barely any room for hammocks and we ask that you do not attempt to hang them from the banana trees on site. They cannot support that kind of weight.
Please also note there is NO CAR CAMPING on site. You will be able to park in designated spots but there will be no option to car camp. Plan accordingly!
NO! Camping equipment is NOT included in your volunteer package. You can also rent a tent, sleeping pad and pillow once you get onsite (bring sheets). There will be a designated space for you to set up your tent.
YES! Our Village is home to a wide array of wonderful vendors with a focus on locally sourced and organically grown ingredients. In addition, our very own Envision Cafe Serves jungle gourmet meals and Envision Coffee. The Villages Witches Elixir Bar also serves great beverages and treats.
While our offerings provide many options for dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free, please plan ahead if you have special dietary restrictions or severe allergies.
Fresh, local organic produce and other local goods will be on sale at the Envision Fresh Market on site. There is also a grocery store in Uvita which carries most basic products, but be sure to bring any specific medications and comfort items with you.
We are a Reusables-Only event! The first time you purchase a meal, you pay a one-time fee for your dishware and utensils. After you eat, bring your dishes to the Dish Center and exchange them for a dish ticket, which can be used to acquire your dishes at your next meal. Repeat the process throughout the weekend. The small fee helps us produce less waste and conserve water.
You may bring your own cup for beverages, but all food must be served on Envision dishware. For those who choose to prepare their own food, there will be a dishwashing station and access to clean hot water.
No. In a partnership with Fuego Brew Co to educate our patrons, and reduce the amount of plastic & glass waste inside our event, we are no longer permitting ANY outside Alcohol inside of the event. We will enforce bag & person security checks upon entering.
Bag Check offers safe and secure storage of belongings either for a day or the duration of the event. Bag Check is open 24 hours a day starting when gates open for Early Arrival on Wednesday 2/27 until the event concludes on Monday 3/4 at 12 PM (Noon).
Absolutely! We encourage families of all shapes and sizes to be a part of our event and participate in the festivities. Please note that we do not offer a daycare service, so we ask that you stay with your children and enjoy the family activities together.
Children under 12 are FREE. Upon arrival, the box office staff will write the parent’s name and contact number on each child’s wristband. This is for safety, and we ask you to stay with your young children at all times.
While we do provide filtered drinking water to our guests, please help us end single use by bringing only large refillable containers for your campsite and a metal container for yourself. We will have some Envision water bottles for sale at our merchandise store.
Showers are available during specific hours, posted at the showers, with a shower voucher. Shower vouchers can be purchased at the showers during the event.
Please bring ONLY biodegradable soap such as Doctor Bronner’s Magic Soaps for shower use. Please avoid any glass bottles for housing your soaps!
We ask that you be mindful of your use – clean water in the jungle is a privilege that we are proud to offer.
There are always ways to contribute and collaborate! Explore – if you are meant to share a certain gift, the chance to express it will make itself available! That said, please be sure that you have confirmed or purchased your ticket before arriving at Envision.
There will not be ATM machines onsite this year. It is always a good idea to arrive with a little bit of cash. Our food and merchant vendors will accept U.S. Dollars and Costa Rica Colones. There are several banks along the highway in Uvita and one across from Dominical on the east side of the highway that have ATMs. In order to access an ATM during the event you will need to take a car or taxi to the nearest ATM location (Uvita). Vendors may or may not accept credit cards.
The box office opens for General Admission Thursday Feb 28th at 10am. Please do not arrive before this time as you will be turned around at the gate and will have to find somewhere else to go. Early Entry is available on Wednesday from 2:00pm – 10pm for those who have pre-purchased an EA Pass AND their 4-day pass. If you wish to arrive on Wednesday please plan ahead and purchase an Early Arrival Pass before they sell out.

The gates are open 24hrs a day starting at 8:30AM on Wednesday to allow for wrist banded guests to travel to outside lodging locations. The Box Office is only open at certain times, so if you arrive before the box office opens or after it closes and have not yet received your wristband, you will have to wait. Please check the box office times above to ensure you arrive within the appropriate time frame!
While we wish the event could last forever, we require that everyone vacate the festival by the time the gathering officially ends. All ticket-holders must vacate the grounds by Monday, March 4th at 12 PM.
ONLY if your early arrival date is noted and agreed upon explicitly in your contract or arrangement (vendor information below). Proof of arrangement will be required. If you arrive early and it is not in your agreement, you will be denied entry.
If you would like to arrive on Wednesday and it is NOT in your contract, please pre-purchase an Early Arrival Pass before they sell out. You can use this pass WITH your 4-Day Pass. 4-Day Event Pass holders that do not purchase an EA Pass before arriving on site will not be able to come inside the event grounds until Thursday morning.

No. Envision has NO refund policy. If you purchased a ticket and can no longer attend, we ask that you transfer it to someone else by selling your ticket at face value. Should you have an extreme or extenuating circumstance please reach out and we can try to help. Our Facebook Group is a great place to find a happy purchaser!
Yes, will-call will be at the box office. You can pick up your tickets here with proper Photo ID, the Credit Card used to make the purchase, and the order confirmation number (found on the email sent to you upon confirmation of ticket purchase). Please have this information ready when you arrive!
All guests are required to check in at the box office and receive a wristband, which must be worn AT ALL TIMES throughout the duration of the event. Our wristbands include an RFID and will be used to electronically check wristbands in and out of the festival. If you do not have a wristband you will be escorted out of the event. Do not remove or tamper with your wristband if you leave the event. If you lose your wristband you will need to purchase another one at the full value of the gate price ticket (should they be available). Any person in possession of a wristband that has been tampered with or altered in any way is subject to ejection from the festival grounds, without refund and re-entry.
ALL FESTIVAL WRISTBANDS WILL BE PUT ON BY BOX OFFICE STAFF ONLY. ANY WRISTBAND THAT IS NOT ISSUED BY OUR BOX OFFICE IS NOT A VALID WRISTBAND AND YOU WILL BE DENIED ENTRY INTO THE FESTIVAL. DO NOT PURCHASE WRISTBANDS OR TICKETS FROM SCALPERS OR UNAUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTORS. IT’S NOT WORTH IT!
All multi-day passes include camping in designated camping areas, music and access to all of our workshops. Camping is first come first serve. But remember, it does not include camping gear; only access to the camping zones.

Bienvenidos! When you arrive at the airport prepare for a welcoming wave of warm air. It’s a good idea to have a pair of sandals and shorts accessible to change into. Have your immigration paperwork completed and passport in hand. After immigration you will collect your bags and take them through customs. Don’t pack anything that you don’t want to explain or that is obviously restricted. Once you are through, be sure you have everything you brought with you and put your passport in a safe place.

Please note that pre-festival shuttles (Saturday-Tuesday) drop off attendees in Dominical and do not continue on to the venue. We’ll pick you up at the airport and drop you off at the front entrance. For those traveling from the United States, U.S. dollars are widely accepted throughout Costa Rica. Do not feel pressured to convert your money in the airport, as these locations are notorious for having the worst exchange rates. Instead, wait for the opportunity to go to a bank or just keep and use your dollars.
The rate fluctuates a little but the rough exchange rate is (U.S. Currency) $1 = 500 colones, $10 = 5,000 colones and $20 = 10,000 colones.

Remember that you need a valid passport with a minimum of six months until expiration and proof of a return plane or bus ticket out of the country to travel into Costa Rica. Depending on your nationality you may need a Visa.

Start the adventure as soon as you step off the plane by traveling straight to the Envision venue with other festival goers! We’ll pick you up at the airport and drop you off at the front entrance. Shuttle passes available soon.
Please note that by law, Costa Rica requires renters to purchase additional liability insurance that most all online rental sites will not tell you about until you arrive to pickup your car at the counter. This insurance is often 2-3x the price of the rental listed online.
The Envision Team strongly recommends taking our three hour Envision Shuttle ride from SJO to the venue. It’s the safest and most hassle free way to get here! Envision will be operating it’s own daily shuttles before, during, and after the event – make friends on the trip down!

If you would prefer the VIP route from SJO to the venue, you can chose to fly within Costa Rica on one the domestic airlines. You will take a breathtaking twenty minute flight westward to the city of Quepos. Quepos is a 30-40 minute drive to the festival. Look for SANSA or Nature Air.
From San José head west to Jaco and then south along the coast to Uvita. We strongly recommend renting a GPS with your vehicle. Very few Costa Rican roads have names and it’s very easy to get lost. Smartphone Apps WAZE or Google Maps are also a good resources if you plan on having a 3g phone while you’re here. From the airport search from Juan Santamaria Airport Alajuela to Uvita, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Envision will be clearly marked from the road about 2km north of Uvita.
Please note that although 4 wheel drive is not needed to get to the festival venue, it is needed for many rental houses and hotels, and we highly recommend 4 wheel drive and FULL insurance coverage if you plan to explore the Southern Zone. Also note that most Car Rental Quotes that you find online do not include even the mandatory insurance coverage and they will force you to buy this before handing you the keys.
You may also take a TRACOPA bus from San José to Paso Canoas and get off in Uvita, where they stop for a few minutes. This ride takes 4 hours. TRACOPA buses stopping in Uvita leave San Jose at 7:30 am, 10:15 am, 11 am, 12 noon, and 4:30 pm. The average cost is around $15.
General Parking is $40 per entry or $60 for unlimited entries the whole weekend. Your vehicle pass must be placed inside your vehicle on the windshield in the designated spot for the duration of your time on site. THERE IS NO CAR CAMPING AT THE GENERAL PARKING LOT.
The parking area will be a short walking distance from the camping area this year and there will not be a shuttle. Please prepare for this when deciding how much stuff to bring with you to the festival.
Envision is not responsible for belongings left inside your vehicle, and we highly encourage you to leave valuables at home. You can also use our Gear Check service inside the event. DO NOT leave your vehicle parked on the roadside or anywhere outside the paid parking area.

No. The festival grounds are small enough that bikes will not be needed. We appreciate you leaving all bikes off the property. Any bikes brought onto site are subject to be removed and held by our security team until the end of the event.
Envision is not providing a shuttle service to the local hotels this year (besides to the VIP Hotel for people with VIP passes). We do work with local taxi services to be available to facilitate off-site transportation. It is very easy to travel locally between Envision to nearby hotels, hostels, and homes.
No, please leave all pets at home. The jungle is not a safe place by any means for your pet.
Service Animals are allowed. If you absolutely must have your service animal with you, please provide proper certification upon arrival, and have your animal wearing their identifiable outfit at all times. Also, your animal must always be on a leash and by your side at all times.
Service animals must check in with the box office upon arrival. Your animal will be tagged with your contact information and logged into our records. This process will provide you and your service animal with extra security. If your animal is found separated from you, they will be held at security until you can be reunited. If this happens more than once, you and your animal may be subject to ejection from the festival grounds.
No. The campgrounds are designed to be a peaceful and quiet space. Running a generator may not be pleasant to your neighbors and we do not allow any amplified sound in the campgrounds. This is not your typical festival environment and we encourage you to explore the offerings as they are! Any unauthorized generators will be removed and held by our security team until the end of the event.
You may bring your own camping gear, or rent a tent, sleeping pad and pillow from Envision. If you are traveling from afar, we definitely encourage you to use our Ready-Set-Camp program. Please pre-purchase as the offer is limited, and once at the event you can pick up your items from the Bag Check storage container, located directly beside the Info Booth. If you still need to rent one from us at the show and they are still available, a tent plus pad and pillow are $250 for two. Our Tent Rentals are LIMITED so don’t wait.
Our Ready Set Camping includes a Pre-set 2-Person Tent under the canopy of our trees in the GA Camping Area with; 1 Double Size Mattress Pad, 2 Pillows, Linens, Chair, & Rug. We will have a designated check in location at the entrance to Ready Set Camp with a concierge who will be able to show you to your tent and be available for questions. Upon your arrival, you’ll check in at the box office to receive your wristband. Work Exchangers that arrive prior to the main box office opening on February 25th will check in through the Production Gate. After receiving your wristband, you’ll be directed to check in with the Work Exchange Coordinators who will show you where you can set up camp, and remind you of your schedule.
Prior to every shift, check in 15 minutes early at the Work Exchange HQ. And don’t forget to sign out at the same location when you’ve completed your shift!
You will be required to work three or four shifts, most of which are six hours long, but vary depending on the team. You will be assigned to a team upon acceptance to the program.
*If you complete your shifts before Tuesday Feb 26, we ask that you help 3 hours each day that you are staying on the grounds until the festival.*
Yes! After your shift is complete, wait to be dismissed from a supervisor and head over to the Work Exchange HQ to check out. Please plan to stick around for an additional 10 minutes after your shift to allow for shift change and ensure we have the coverage we need.
There is always the chance that unforeseen changes occur. This means that in rare cases, the job you signed up for might not be what you end up doing. We will never switch you a job that you are uncomfortable with. Most of the time, it’s an upgrade!
After acceptance, you will be sent a link to sign up for your shifts on Babalooey. Please carefully consider your options before choosing shifts to keep changes to a minimum. All shifts must be approved by the Work Exchange Coordinator.
