Arrive to Costa Rica via plane, boat, or unicorn and make your way from San Jose International Airport (SJO) roughly 30 minutes to first hotel, Boutique Luz de Luna, located in the charming gastronomical heart of the city, Barrio Escalante. Allow time for everyone to arrive to the hotel. For those arriving early, take time to explore San Jose including highlights such as the local markets, jade or gold museum, and any number of parks all within walking distance from our hotel. In the evening we will be joining together to enjoy drinks and appetizers for our welcome meeting at the Escalante Beer Factory! Important to get a good night rest for tomorrow’s adventure: river rafting.
We begin our tour with adventure, rafting down the Pacuare River, which is considered one of the five most scenic rafting rivers in the world as it slips and slides through primary and secondary rainforest. Lunch will be served half-way down the river upon the shore banks and then back to the rapids and sacred waters. Then off we go to the Caribbean Town of Puerto Viejo de Limon & Playa Chiquita. This will be our coastal jungle home for the coming days. After checking into our beach bungalows, its time for a very special mixed fusion group dinner.
Our day begins with a hike through the Kekoldi Indigenous Reserve as we learn directly from our local Bribri guides. Throughout our 2 hour hike, we will learn first-hand about the rich culture and customs of the Bribri people and how they so gracefully utilize the forests for all components of living including medicine, food, shelter, clothes, myth, and more. After building up a nice hunger, we will be served a traditional indigenous meal and re-energize before spending the afternoon at Punta Uva Beach where the rainforest abuts the sea. At night we hit the town once again and and move our bodies at one of the beachfront reggae bars.
Begin the day hiking along the jungle-clad coast through primary and secondary rainforest with our local Caribbean guides to the Punta Mona Center for Regenerative Design & Botanical Studies. The center is an 85 acre educational organic farm, botanical collection and retreat center dedicated to alternative education by example. We will spend three nights here enjoying farm tours, chocolate making, snorkeling, ocean kayaking and discussing permaculture, medicinal plants and sustainable solutions. Our nights will be filled with music and celebration around the beachfront fire circle.
Every year our Envision travel groups absolutely fall in love with Punta Mona and are often inspired to take their new found passion for sustainable living back home and into their daily lives. It is truly a transformational experience to be 100% off the grid and deeply immersed within nature’s loving embrace. Add an amazing international staff of visionary volunteers to the mix, live music around the campfire, starry skies, and organic meals, and what is left is true Pura Vida! As the co-founder of Punta Mona Stephen Brooks often says, put on your scuba gear, because were going deep!
Depart Punta Mona by boat early and head from Manzanillo for last chance to soak in the charming rasta vibes. After lunch we head back to San Jose, en-route stoping at an epic fruit stand to sample some of the abundant diversity of exotic fruits in Costa Rica. At night we will get a taste of the San Jose music scene and enjoy the Bohemian side of town where our quaint hotel is located in Barrio Escalante.
After breakfast we travel to the quaint town of San Mateo de Alajuela to visit La Ecovilla, a planned permaculture community planted extensively with lots of food and delicious tropical goodies as well as ponds stocked with Tilapia. Enjoy a delicious lunch and jump off boulders into the crystal clear waters of the Machuca River. In the afternoon we travel along the Pacific Ocean to the beautiful beach town of Manuel Antonio. We arrive with time for us to check into our hotel and catch our first Pacific Coast Sunset! Free night for all to explore: dinner and dancing in town with countless other Envisionaries from all over the world who are making their way to the festival.
Last day of this epic journey, Coast to Coast in Costa Rica, what a journey! We have all day free to decompress from all the sensory intake and action on this journey and really enjoy the local beaches. Great day to acquire any last things you may want before entering Envision Festival. Join back together for another epic sunset and Final Group Dinner in Town.
After breakfast we will make the final stretch to the town of Uvita where all will receive our Envision Passes and enter the Festival in Early-Bird-Style! Feeling inspired from our recent journey, we invite all to carry the positive vibrations into this amazing global celebration!

“What is your favorite fruit? If you answered apple, strawberries, or conventional banana’s… you have a whole new world of fruit to discover!!! Let the Envision Tour be your guide to experiencing magic in Costa Rica. You will learn about permaculture, conservation, and sustainable community. I am forever grateful for Chad Carson and ALL the human beings who planned, took action, and taught a group of 21 people how to change their lives and the world for the better. I walked away with major life lessons learned, a BEAUTIFUL new family built, and a new found interest in a sustainable career. If you have the chance to take this trip, do so with an open heart and open mind. I promise you will learn, love, and explore the world just as it should be.”
