Costa Rica provides not only an exotic home for Envision, but also a convenient opportunity for attendees to explore a tropical country. It’s a lush land full of species, sights and adventures you’ve yet to encounter. Since you’re already here, I highly recommend taking some time to explore Central America’s unique offerings. If you’re interested but don’t know where to start, we’ve got you covered with 5 retreats. Each are held directly before or after Envision and focus on adventure, learning, and a taste of local life! If you’re traveling alone this is a great way to meet some friends before Envision begins. Most of the retreats include meals and transportation to/from Envision too.
Embrace is held at Selva Armonia, an eco-lodge and retreat center founded by members of the Envision family. This retreat will dig deeper into the 8 pillars of Envision: Permaculture, Movement, Music Eco Build, Health, Community, Art, and Spirituality. Selva Armonia is where a couple of the Envision founders live year round and its jungle landscape is a great source of inspiration for the festival.
Start your day with a yoga class from hardstanding expert Benita Wolfe. Enjoy 3 vegetarian local style meals per day. Workshops will focus on permaculture and it’s role at both Selva Armonia and Envision. Expand your knowledge of natural medicinals with classes focused on Herbal Traveler’s First Aid Kit and a Medicinal Plant Tour.
Even with all that activity, there is still plenty of time for fun and getting to know your fellow travelers. Dance to 2 live Govinda sets at the Ecstatic dance and pool parties.
The Pre-Envision tour will give you a sampling of some of the highlights and permaculture communities of Costa Rica. Your adventure begins in the country’s capital, San Jose. You will get to explore both the Carribian side of CR as well as the Pacific. Some highlights include:
– A visit to Punta Mona. An isolated, off the grid, permaculture community with beachfront caribbean property. The definition of paradise.
– Rafting down the Pacuare River, one of the top rated senic spots for rafting across the world
– Hiking through the Kekoldi Indigenous Reserve and learning about the indigenous Bribri people.
– Exploring both primary and secondary rainforest.
– A visit to an educational farm where you’ll learn about sustainable living and permaculture
– Making chocolate, snorkeling and kayaking the ocean
If you’re interested in expanding your knowledge of healing plants and assisting your community, this retreat is for you! The workshop begins at Punta Mona Center for Regenerative Design & Botanical Studies where you will spend four days diving deep into the world of medicinal herbs. From there you will arrive at Envision early to help set up the herbal first-aid clinic. Once the festival has started you’ll get to put your knowledge to use, working in the Herbal Clinic.
Although no previous knowledge or experience is necessary, this is a serious course for people dedicated to learning. Includes working alongside EMTs, Doctors and requires openness to all modalities of healing. Students must work 6-8 hours per day during the festival.
On Monday when the festival has concluded, meet up with your fellow travelers at the Envision Cafe before you take off for the nearby town Manuel Antonio, where you will spend the next 2 days for some beachside decompression. You’ll get a chance to:
– Snorkel in the Pacific ocean
– Hike the Manuel Antonio National Park
– Soak in the hot springs created by Arenal Volcano
– Climb up and down waterfalls
– Stay at permaculture eco-communities and learn about sustainable design
Love to pamper yourself and rejuvenate your body after a festival? Stay onsite an extra 2 nights for the Post Envision Shamanik Yoga Retreat, held on-site! We offer yoga classes, a cacao ceremony, and guided meditation. Hold the sacred container built throughout the event and peacefully wind down the fire. There will also be workshops about different ways to consume super foods, and and energy healing. You’ll also be fed three healthy meals per day.
